Presented by the Hartford Historical Society as part of Hartford Commemorates America’s 250th! Wednesday September 9 starting at 7:00 P.M. Greater Hartford United Church of Christ 1721 Maple Street in Hartford Village Free admission • Accessible Countering their depiction as "merciless Indian savages" in the Declaration of Independence, author and historian Colin Calloway will show how Native Americans in the American Revolution fought to protect their land and independence, a struggle that took a heavy toll and left a bitter legacy in Indian country. Dr. Calloway is an author and Professor of History and Native American and Indigenous Studies at Dartmouth College. He has written and edited two dozen books, including The American Revolution in Indian Country and The Indian World of George Washington.
