Subject: [Thetford] 250th Events for July, August & September
Hello, Come visit the SQC Tent at the Thetford Hill fair on Saturday. SQC T-shirts will be for sale. July 25 How Local Geology Relates to Thetford History Retired geologists, Peter and Thelma Thompson, will guide us through an investigation of Thetford geology on July 25th, starting at 9AM at the Post Mills Congregational Church. Cosponsors - Thetford Conservation Commission, Thetford Historical Society and SQC Committee August 8 11am-12:30 pm. Learn about the history of the "Fairview Farm" from Marshall van Norden. 1 pm-3 pm. New Suns Community Center, Route 5 North Thetford. An informal round table with a moderator where farmers past and present will share stories and experiences. Refreshments will be served. August 15 Lyme Town Band Concert at 5 pm at the Post Mills Church. Bean Hole supper with Colonial recipes potluck at 6 pm. September 7 Post Mills Labor Day Parade & BBQ. Music by the Barn Band - Make a Float for YOUR Village! September 20 2 pm. Historic dance in the Pavilion Hall in East Thetford. Caller: David Millstone. Musicians: Carol Compton and Thal Aylward. Everyone welcome. No experience necessary ~ all dances will be taught. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thetford SQC is an ad hoc group organizing community events in all of the villages of Thetford in 2026. Activities are supported by the Brian J Boland Memorial Foundation, and with a grant from the Vermont Arts Council, which receives support in part from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the State of Vermont 250th Anniversary Celebration Commission.
