Subject: [Events-UV] 8/11 Book Talk on Radical Hospitality in a Dysfunctional Immigration System
Mary Fontana will give a book talk at the Norwich Public Library on Tuesday, August 11, at 7pm. Mary is the author of the new book Strangers in the Province of Joy: Practicing Radical Hospitality on the US-Mexico Border, a narrative history of a small nonprofit called Annunciation House, which provides hospitality for migrants and refugees on the US-Mexico border. It also sketches out the larger context of immigration across the Americas over the last half-century; the hope is to give readers a sense of the complex forces driving global migration, through the more tangible and emotionally resonant stories of individual people and journeys, while challenging them "to confront the borders in their own hearts". , Ulrike von Moltke
