Subject: Monday Aging and Death Cafe 5:30 to 7 pm at the VTC
Come join us at this month's Aging and Death Cafe What is something we all have in common? We are all aging!! Aging and death can bring such strong emotions and reactions and is often a topic we avoid. Might we be able to break down the stigma, embrace the inevitable, and maybe even enjoy the conversations along the way? We will be leading an ongoing, multigenerational group in conversations and shared learning on the topics of aging, death and all that might come up along the way. Have cultural curiosities? Legal questions? Stories to share? Advice to give? We want to hear it! As we progress in our group we will bring in experts as needed, like lawyers, doctors, death doulas, mental health professionals, chaplains, funeral directors just for examples… and other areas that bubble up that we aren’t even thinking of now. We hope you will join us in exploring all of the areas of aging and death while enjoying some tea and snacks and community! We plan to meet on the fourth Monday of each month from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Vershire Town Center. Maria Koehler, LICSW – has worked as a medical social worker for 9 years with a variety of clinics including the cancer center. She helped to enhance the advance care planning programs at DH and organized community conversation related to health care decision making and end of life planning. Death was always something that terrified her and seemed better left undiscussed, but through embracing those difficult conversations, Maria has learned that so much joy can be found when we look at life and what makes it meaningful… and so much peace can be found when we let go of the fear. She is a mom of two and an active community member who loves to exercise, sing, and eat delicious food! Reva Seybolt, MBA, Personal Coach - has worked with clients since 1988 on their self-exploration and healing from trauma, abuse, and regular life. Reva currently offers individual sessions and groups, both in person and online, releasing limiting beliefs and emotions especially around aging. Besides loving to explore aging and death, Reva helps around town and works and drives her pair, Tom and Ellie.
